Derek was super excited about his first Homecoming Spirit Week. He dressed up and participated in the fun activities on campus. Unfortunately, on the last day, color day, his lunch bunch of freshman friends were tagged with spray paint, by seniors. Derek decided to retaliate with a sharpie, which made the senior angry. He proceeded to follow Derek, shove him down and threaten him. Even though the senior was 250 pounds and more than 6 feet tall, Derek got up and shoved the kid back. Teachers intervened and I was called. Derek ended up with an in school suspension. This whole thing put a damper on his school spirit and his mood.
He did get dressed up to go to Homecoming with Clifford Karlsrud and Ryan Marshall, but because of a huge storm we had that caused flooding and lots of downed power lines, the dance was cancelled and rescheduled for a couple months later. Derek chose not to go the second time.

Holy Crap the kid took on a boy twice his size! That takes some serious moxy. "Fighting isn't the answer" but sounds like a good time be assertive. Anytime you can take a shot a kid twice as big you, especially when you know it will be broken up before he can kill you...
