Once we were checked into our hotel, we couldn't wait to get out and explore. We had passes for a bus tour so we walked down to the Marble Arch to catch the bus. After waiting on the wrong side of the road for at least 30 minutes, as nice bus driver finally told us where to stand. While waiting for the bus we did see some traditional London taxi's.
We were excited to get on the Golden Tours Bus and see the city. Although we had no audio and there was no attendant on the bus to tell us what was going on, we enjoyed the view. It was full of statues at each intersection and huge trees lined every street. We passed some beautiful, expensive hotels with magnificent gardens.
We made our way to Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and Buckingham Palace, when all of a sudden we were told to get off the bus and wait for a new bus.
We weren't sure what we could do, other than listen. So we got off for a while and waited again. We got on a new bus a while later and just enjoyed the breezy air and blue skies filled with sunshine.
Our last stop of the evening was at Harrods. We were all excited to browse and explore the magnificent store.
One level had rooms full of different gormet foods. Each was so intricately decorated.
We fell in love with the fresh flowers.
We found some sweet peas that smelled out of this world! We took that as a sure sign from mom Dianne that we should have them. They were intoxicating.
We enjoyed them throughout our stay in London thanks to a little ingenuity!
Our next best ever find, was this little treat, the Dough-sant. I am not sure that these things should be legal, but they are. A perfect combination of croissant and doughnut twisted into perfection. I actually moaned while I walked though the store and ate this.
We were also super excited to find the Disney Store inside Harrods. Can you imagine our surprise? Yes we took it all in and even bought a few things too!
Not only was there a Disney Store, there was a Disney restaurant. It was closed but they let us walk through and look around anyways. Totally Peter Pan themed. We loved it!
After all our little stops, we found the Burger Bar. There were like 28 restaurants in this 7 floor mega store and we decided on burgers. The most expensive burger I have ever eaten. Very, very good, but very, very, expensive. "A once in a lifetime chance," was our mantra.
We had to drink water, even though this little gem cost about $15 United States Dollars (usd). The atmosphere was so fun and the French fries were scrumptious and the waiter was perfect, in all ways! We left smiling even after the bill came to $150 usd for 3 burgers and fries, 1 milk shake and 2 bottles of water. It was a truly gourmet experience.
Hot towel? Yes Mam!
After dinner we found the Egyptian Escalators to make our way down to the lower level.
Here we found Robyn's Princess. She loved Diana as a teen and was heart broken when she died, like most of the world. There is very little of Diana left in London so we were glad we got to see these memorials.
Robyn and Dianne told happy stories of the Princess, as we walked out of the most amazing store on the planet and found one of those cute little black cabs to take us back to our hotel for some much needed rest!
