Today marked the end of second grade for Carsen and the end of fifth grade for Derek.
Carsen's year has been hellish, as his teacher was "very busy with a lot of after school meetings" and could only provide the same array of pathetic, boring worksheets every single day. He has hated going to school every day this entire year. I am proud of Carsen for having a good attitude most days and for being very smart and successful in spite of his teacher. His saving grace was that he had Brennan in his class to save him from his torture during lunch and recess.
Derek, on the other hand had a good year and made the honor roll this quarter and last quarter. He has a wonderful teacher who pushed hard and expected a lot from Derek. It wasn't a cake walk and I am very proud of Derek for working so hard and sticking with it, even when it got tough. He is intelligent and determined when he puts his mind to it!
We are now ready to move into summer. We have chores and daily skills practice lined up, but we also have 10 summer movies, 6 fun Fridays and 26 days of vacation to look forward to. Let the good times roll!
yay for your boys! sounds like they both did great, even if carsen's teacher was awful, poor guy.
ReplyDeleteenjoy your summer vacation, summer movie fun, fun fridays, etc - our summer doesn't start till thursday, then friday and saturday its dance all weekend then finally on monday we can let the fun begin!
