Hummingbird

Two weeks ago it was super windy.  When the boys got home from school Carsen found a little hummingbird that had been knocked into Anthony's car and fallen to the ground.  He was stunned.  He couldn't fly.  So the boys carefully picked him up and brought him inside to recoperate.  They gave him sugar water & flowers in a nice little towel lined box.  He didn't move for hours.

The next morning we took the beautiful bird out front and opened the box.  He sat there for 4-5 minutes before he tried to flutter his wings.  At first they wouldn't move.  He couldn't fly.  Then out of the bushes flew another hummingbird.  She tried to get in through the screen to the front door.  She was making a high pitched chirping noise.  Like she was trying to call her friend.  Our bird chirped back.

A few moments later, our rescued bird found the strength to fly out of the box and follow his friend across the street to a thick bush.  We had to leave for school, but we were happy that the birds were reunited.
