Sea World 2011

This summer we decided to take the boys to Sea World.  Jake has never been there and it's been 3 years since the rest of us have been.  We really had a great time experiencing the Sea Creatures.

When we got to the park we immediately went to the Atlantis roller coaster.  Emily didn't want to get on, so Nana waited with her.  The rest of us got very, very wet, but it was nice to be a little bit cool on a hot day.

We also had a great time in the Arctic area.  We rode the helicopter and really enjoyed the animals.

We felt really lucky to see the Beluga whales with a group of people learning how to train them.

We also saw the Polar Bears being fed.

I was most excited to see the walrus swimming all around the pool.  I couldn't believe how that big animal could move.

We all rode the Shipwreck Rapids ride.  Sydney was the only wimp who wore a poncho.  The rest of us braved it and got soaking wet.  Bella was by far the most soaked.  Since she was already drenched Nana took her and Jake on the ride a second time.  They had a great time!

The kids all really enjoyed the tidal pools.  Carsen was very patient and was able to hold the star fish long enough for it to attached itself to his hand.

The boys also loved the aquariums. 

We thought that we had found the new sea turtle exhibit and we were pretty disappointed.  We found out later that we had missed the new exhibit all together.  Thank goodness.

We also enjoyed riding the moving sidewalk through the shark tank.

We were very disappointed to miss the dolphin feeding, but found the sea lion feeding area.  It was a delicate balance between feeding the intended sea lion and feeding the birds.  Sydney had an entire tray snatched out of her hands before she knew what happened.

When we all needed a little free time we took the kids to the play area.  They have 4 new kiddie rides and a splash pad and a jungle gym climbing area. 

Our culminating activity was the Shamu show, Shamu Rocks.  Sydney and I wanted to sit up high and the kids all wanted to sit in the soak zone.  One by one all the kids came up,  except Carsen.  Nana volunteered to sit with him and was even smart enough to borrow Sydney's poncho.

After the show there were some great fireworks before we headed for the gate.  We were all exhausted, but had a great day at Sea World.
