The morning after the Polar Express, we headed out to take the boys to play in the snow. We followed the path recommended by the hotel, but that led us to the local ski resort that didn't allow for the boys to sled or play in the snow. So we decided to find our own spot as we headed toward home. We exited the freeway, we really aren't sure which exit, but it looked nice and snowy. As we headed up the road, had our eyes peeled for the perfect spot, until the Pilot got just a little off the pavement and into the mud and snow.
We were just inches off the road, but the car wouldn't budge. A super nice young couple stopped and literally dug us out of the snow. Thank goodness Derek packed his snow shovel. The couple had just gotten engaged, but they didn't mind getting wet and dirty to help us out. Eventually, we were set free and we were able to play in the snow.
There wasn't much of a sledding hill, but Derek found a way to snow board and sled down a little self-made slope.
Jake was just interested in taking his winter clothes on and off. I must have put his gloves, hat, scarf and jacket on 20 times. But it was all in the name of family fun, so who can get mad?
Carsen was interested in digging for a bit, sledding for a bit, but mostly in having a snowball fight.
That is until an ice chunk/snowball hit him in the head. He shed a few tears, but got back to business and gave his dad a nice payback!
The boys worked together to build a snowman. It turned out pretty cute and they were very proud. I love when they work together peacefully. It was my own Christmas Miracle.
Before we left Jake and Carsen had to pick up the "biggest snowballs" they could find. Luckily they were to heavy to throw.
When every one was one step shy of frozen, we took off the wet, put on warm socks and shoes and headed for warm, sunny home!
