Polar Express 2011

It has been a very years since we hopped aboard the Polar Express to the North Pole.  Derek really didn't want to go the few days leading up to the trip.  He thought he was too big or really too mature for this kind of activity, but I insisted he come to help make it special for his little brothers.  He didn't disappoint.  Even Anthony got into the spirit of the holiday.  I think just being part of the magic gives you the special "I Believe" feeling.

Jake didn't remember ever going on the train before so he was very excited to see what the trip was all about.  Once we boarded the train and got on our way, the cooks passed out hot chocolate and cookies to everyone.

Soon after, the story "The Polar Express" was read aloud and the cooks walked up and down the isles showing the books.  We continued to speed through the night until we arrived at the North Pole.

After arriving at our destination, Santa got on the train.

Santa then gave each child the first gift of Christmas.

Each boy was excited by his own special bell.

Once the train arrived back at the depot, we were able to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus

After the pictures were taken and the souvenirs were purchased, headed over to Cruisers Cafe for dinner.  Derek ate more at that meal then he had eaten in a week.  He ate a 12oz top sirloin steak, 1 salad, 1 large baked potato, 1/2 mom's cheeseburger, mom's fries, 4 mozzarella sticks, 12 giant onion rings, and a giant Mountain Dew.  I don't know where he put it all!

After dinner we headed over to the hotel and enjoyed a quick dip in the indoor pool and hot tub.  The best thing about not having a pool at home, is how much fun we have on vacation at the pool.  We all slept well remembering the first gift of Christmas.
