March 10th began our Springtime fun! That's right. Opening Day for Little League!
It was pretty awful. Almost unbearable. We had to wake up at 6 am. Truly a tragic way to begin any day, especially a Saturday.
Jake had team pictures and a 1 inning scrimmage. He is with his same coach from the Fall, Brian Beam. He is awesome and we are ecstatic to have him back! The coaches only down fall is that he is from LA and loves the Dodgers, thus our new team name.
Jake played at the pitcher position and did a great job. He assisted in 5 outs at first base! Way to go Jake!
Jake hit a nice single to short stop and beat the ball to first base.
Carsen, now retired, was propositioned by several of his former coaches to come to join their teams. He was happy to just run around with lots of friends and eat shaved ice.
Derek is continuing his career in the majors and has returned to his team from last Spring. It isn't quite the "same" team because the head coach from his pirates team retired, but one of the assistant coaches took control. He is also the same coach from his Fall ball team. Derek will learn a lot from Coach Ernie this season. Derek's coach also changed their team from the Pirates, to the Indians. The uniforms look nice anyway.
Happily, Derek is starting catcher. He is amazing behind the plate. During his first game he hit a sweet double, but Anthony and I were both watching Jake's short 30 minute game. We watched Derek's game for more than 90 minutes and just when we looked away, he hit a nice one.
I am sure we will get to see a lot more those hits over the next 3 months.
