My baby is 12. I can hardly believe it. Turning 12 means receiving the Aaronic Priesthood. Derek was a bit nervous to take this big step because of the duties it entails. Specifically pass the Sacrament.
His Quorum advisor was awesome and set up a practice session during mutual the week after his birthday. Once he had it explained, he was ready.
So, on March 4 we went to church about 30 minutes early. Carol & Jared Jensen and their kids, Regina and Trent and their family, grandma Joyce, Uncle Alan & Aunt Nancy, Raelynn, Nana & Grumpaw and Bishop Francis all joined us for Derek's special day. Grumpaw then ordained Derek. During Sacrament meeting Derek was able to help pass the Sacrament to the congregation. He did an excellent job passing efficiently and reverently. Like an old pro.
We are so proud of Derek. He is a great example to us and his brothers.
I know he will learn a lot as a deacon and do his best to honor his priesthood.
