Happy Birthday to ME!

Day two of our Hawaiian vacation was my 36th birthday.  I had intended on doing something really big and exciting, like flying in a Helicopter over a Volcano, but once we met with the concierge about all the activities on the island and scheduled them, the day was 1/2 over and we had a Luau to be at for dinner.

In the mean time, we checked out the island and found lunch at the "Quinn's almost by the Sea".  We had heard the fish and chips were the best, so we were all going to order that.  But my sweet Anthony saw that they made my favorite Monte Cristo sandwich.  I made a great choice with that because it was delicious!  We also ordered fried zucchini.  When it arrived, we decided that it must have come from a world record size zucchini.  The pieces were huge!  We had a great lunch and then went to my favorite store, Costco!

Once we had made our purchases, we headed home to get ready for our Luau.

The Luau was at the Royal Kona Hotel.  The grounds were beautiful and we were able to watch the sun set over the ocean.

We had an interesting meal with authentic Hawaiian foods.

The coconut jello was my "new thing to try" and although the flavor was good, the texture was unbearable.

After dinner there was a show with dances from many Pacific islands.  These dancers were incredible.  Mike told the band it was my birthday, so the entire luau sang me Happy Birthday.

On the way back to the car, we passed the resorts spa.  Mike was nce enough to pay for Randi and I to each get a chair massage from Hodgi.  He did a great job and we left there feeling rejuvenated!

We considered going dancing at "Huggos on the Rocks", but Mike had to help a 70 year old drunk man to  his hotel room, after he fell into a palm tree and couldn't get up.

We called it a night and went to bed.

All in all, it was a beautiful & fun 36th birthday!
