Forgive the dozens of pictures you are about to witness. We had a wonderful time at the beach house during our annual trip to San Diego. Anthony had to work in order to get time off to go fishing with his boys in Wyoming. So Nana Carlys and Sydney came to help out with the boys and Nana brought along Emily and Bella as a special treat.
Carsen decided this year that boogie boarding was fun. He enjoyed going out when it was high tide so he didn't have to get out too deep to get good waves.
Jake and Bella loved to jump in the waves together. They were brave and could stand out there for hours. Bella was in her own little world as the waves crashed around her. I even caught her dancing several times as she sang songs while the waves crashed around her.
Of course Derek had to get out in the water and show his brothers how to do it right. He is good at everything, but this time Carsen was the best and I loved to watch the joy on his face every time he caught a wave.
After a bit of watching, Bella and Jake thought they would try their hand at boogie boarding.
The went out about 5 steps and jumped on the last little ripple of the wave. They had a great time coming in over and over again.
Of course playing in the water wasn't the only great thing in San Diego. The sand is always a place of happiness for hours on end.
The kids dug and dug. They used their imaginations and built castles, motes, holes and walls.
| Carsen was king of this castle with a mote. |
| Jake added the cups for decoration. |
Sydney tried to sunbathe, while she watched the kids on the beach. She was unsuccessful.
New to the beach this year was a "water feature" as the kids so affectionately called it. The old Sea Coast in was torn down last year and they are working on building a new hotel. As they dig down for the garage, they are having to pump out a lot of sea water, which translates to a fun water fall for the kids to play in.
While digging and exploring along the beach, Derek found a hermit crab. It was so neat to see one in real life and in his natural environment.
Going to beach is cool peaceful for me and hours of fun for the boys. I am so glad we have been blessed enough with this opportunity.
