Connections

In honor of the tragedy on September 11, 2001 the City of Phoenix was having a memorial.  There were arrangements made for a few military helicopters to be there for the visitors to see up close and personal, to go along with the music and food.

The police department was asked to assist in closing the roads while the helicopters landed.  Mike was involved in the special assignment as since he knew it was a very cool, rare experience he invited me to bring the boys to watch the event.

First we were able to see an Osprey come in like an airplane and then switch the propellers to be a helicopter for landing.  It was so cool and so powerful.  The wind it made caused debris to fly and an entire row of porta-potties to fall over.  Luckily, they were clean and empty.

We were also able to see this blackhawk land as well.  Thank goodness there was thick cloud cover so we didn't die of heat stroke.  We spent about a hour watching a waiting for these awesome helicopters.  Thanks to our cop connection, we had a fun Friday afternoon.
