Derek is a little bit obsessed with stuff. OK, that is an understatement. Right now he is all about fishing. Because we are going to San Diego, he is obsessed with pier fishing. He has spent ALL of his free time researching and learning about fishing off the pier in San Diego. He has fished there the last 5 years at least, but this year he was going to be fully prepared.
Last year we took our old rolling cooler and in that he kept his bait and fish and it helped him get his stuff back and forth. I made him throw it away before he left last year because I didn't want a nasty fish cooler in my vehicle as we drove across the hot desert.
So this year we bought a collapsible multi-purpose cart for Derek to use on the pier, with the hope that we could use it during baseball and other times throughout the year. With the cart came a Derek idea, which is different than a regular idea. Once the idea is there, it is going to happen. No. Matter. What. The idea was a rod holder, attached to the back of this cart.
The idea and plans were carefully drawn out and then Derek, guided by his father, built a rod holder. Derek measured, sawed, filed and glued this invention to fulfillment.
I have to say that he did a great job and it worked perfectly. Thank goodness that Derek has an awesome dad to teach him all the things he wants to learn.
Way to go Derek! Love the cart and I'm sure you caught lots of fish. Love you! Aunt Marie
