738 miles of insomnia, PAC NW 11/12

The day before we left, Doug took all the boys fishing, then came home and cooked the fish, as well as homemade pizza for dinner.  He is amazing and he helped with the boys so much!  It gave me a bit of a real vacation.

So while the boys were fishing and cooking the three women took to the mall.  We had a great time buying Kristi her first pair of TOMS as a small thank you gift for such a wonderful week.  The salesman at Nordy's was great!  Then we headed over to MAC for a mini makeup makeover for me, which was hilarious.  Next we headed to See's Candy where we ordered a lot more than "just the free sample".  We gave the employees a great show and they gave us lots of samples while we let the smaller orders go ahead of us piggies.

After our wonderful meal, we knew we had to pack up and be ready to leave early the next morning.  Robyn is very big on getting enough sleep.  She frequently reprimands me about my lack of sleep.  So we headed to bed to rest, or just lay there awake.  About 3 am we were wide awake and beside our selves with delirium.  This led to an hour of jokes and bouts of uncontrollable belly laughter.  After Kristi came in to check on us, we decided we had better get serious about sleep.  After all, the alarm did wake us up just a short 2.5 hours later!

Much to our dismay, the week passed by too quickly and our departure arrived. Every single one of us wanted to stay at Doug & Kristi's.  But they had to work and we had to drive, and drive and drive and drive...across the entire state of Oregon....

...and drive and drive and drive across the entire boring, stopless, gasless, drinkless state of Idaho, 738 miles to be exact.  But our destination was Sydney & Neal and that made it all worth it!  (For Robyn.)

We spent a couple hours in the hot tub and in our room talking before we totally crashed for the night.  Not to worry, we were up and meeting them for breakfast by 9am and back on the road toward Wyoming by 10am.

Our Wyoming destination was Snake River.  Regina & Trent were there with their kids on their annual rafting week trip and we made plans to meet them for a run down the river.

Our first run was a bit of a nightmare, but it was a beautiful adventure.  The boat carried Neal, Billy, Robyn, Me, Regina, Sydney, Trent, Derek, Carsen and Jake.  The 2 youngest were freezing most of the way down and opted to stay at camp during our second run.

Robyn, Regina, Derek and I got back in the boat with Savannah, Brooklyn and Boo's friend Ericka with Trent as guide.  This trip down the river was so much fun and we had the best time together.  It is one of my favorite memories of the trip.

We rocked the awesome rapids and Derek even rode the bull down the river.  He was fearless!

Once we got off the river we had a delicious dinner back at camp, followed by s'mores and dump cake.

Just before dark we had to say our goodbye's to the Grossarth campers and head back to Rexburg, ID.  Our usual routine ensued with the boys in the hot tub and pool before we all hit the sack for a little shut eye.

The next morning we had a few hours to spend with Sydney before we began the journey south to Utah.  We were able to see her old and new apartments, have lunch in Idaho Falls and do a little bit of shopping.  When it was time to say goodbye it was heart breaking to see Sydney and her Mom hug and go their separate ways.  We sure do miss her.

We spent the next 3 hours driving to Thanksgiving Point to our hotel.  Billy took the boys swimming, as per protocol, and we found dinner for a fun hotel picnic.  We ate and watched the Olympics before heading to a much needed bed!
